ugh okay this part is where i fell in love with der tod in love.
i love how he tries and tries to convince elisabeth that she needs him, when it is so obviously the other way around. i love that maté plays him as almost desperate; his movements are so sharp and cutting, and when i watch the scenes of him watching elisabeth i feel a visceral ache. he wants her, so much so that it scares him, that it drives him almost mad, that he grips at the threads that he thinks will connect them and ultimately ends up failing.
i love that when they finally consummate decades of ust he is so gentle with her. when maya’s elisabeth hugs him— she hugs him, not the other way around— his face goes slack, like he can’t believe that he can finally hold her.
TL;DR DER TOD IS DERPY AND IN LOVE

Maté is pretty much my favourite Der Tod and probably always will be, for the way he portrays the character *A*
